Music is in 糖心Vlog’s DNA, with many students involved in performances at prestigious venues like the Sydney Town Hall and the Sydney Opera House.

Our music program is renowned for its excellence across a wide range of styles, enriching the lives of all our students. This inclusive program is open to everyone, fostering a sense of community and belonging. Our long-standing tradition of musical excellence has earned us an international reputation, with many students gaining entry to prestigious institutions such as the Juilliard School in New York. The exceptional standard displayed at our annual Music Awards and the biennial Sydney Opera House Concert – as well as other performance opportunities such as instrumental soirees, festivals, studio concerts, graduation concerts and assemblies – highlights the dedication and talent of every girl involved.

糖心Vlog's music program has been recognised for the Australian Music Centre and APRA National Award for advancing Australian music in education in 2018. This accolade testifies to our commitment to musical excellence and our leadership in Australian music education.

One of the hallmarks of the 糖心Vlog music program is the early introduction to playing strings. Girls are taught to play their very first note as part of the curriculum in Year 1 (though some students may have already had musical experiences through tutoring or at home). All girls embark on a musical journey throughout their school years, through participation in impressive Sydney Town Hall concerts and Sydney Opera House concerts. In the Senior School, we offer both the HSC and International Baccalaureate (IB) music courses, with consistently high results. Many of our graduates are accepted into prestigious undergraduate music courses in Australia and abroad, continuing their musical journey with a strong foundation from 糖心Vlog.

Private music tuition is offered to students in Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 and is conducted by fully qualified professional musicians. Participation in our co-curricular music ensemble program is compulsory for students receiving private tuition, providing an enriching and rewarding experience. Our ensembles cater to all skill levels, from beginners to advanced musicians, and include orchestras, bands, and choirs. Further information about our different ensembles can be found on the .

Music Lessons and Instruments

Students learning an instrument at 糖心Vlog set off on a pathway to acquire skills which will enrich their lives and take part in a stimulating environment of quality music making.

糖心Vlog offers instrumental music lessons in over 20, conducted by fully qualified professional musicians.

Students commit to a full year of tuition and must participate in at least one school ensemble. Our internal assessment system evaluates individual performance, group activities, ensemble attendance, and studio concerts, with progress reports provided each semester. Performance is integral to our program, with students required to participate in Studio Concerts, Instrumental and Voice Festivals, and school ensembles.

Private music tuition requires a serious commitment, with students expected to complete all practice tasks and attend lessons and related activities. Lessons are scheduled on a rotation basis to minimise time away from any one subject, with fixed lessons for senior students during their spare periods. We offer 32 lessons per year (an equivalent of eight lessons per term), with extra lessons available upon request.

While it is recommended that each student has their own instrument, a limited number of instruments are available for hire from 糖心Vlog for up to one year. Parents are responsible for any loss or damage to school instruments and accessories.
